295 Officers Ready to Anticipate Flood in East Jakarta

As much as 295 officers that consist of flood taskforce and guard of pump house and sluice gate will be alerted to anticipate flood at the Sluice Gate 1 of East Flood Canal (KBT), Malakasari Urban Village Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

Head of East Jakarta Water Management Sub-dept, Ahmad Yazied Bustomi disclosed it is conducted, because rain intensity in Jakarta is high. Moreover, on Tuesday (11/1), inundation was detected on Jl DI Panjaitan with a longer time than before.

The officer will be instructed to always be on guard. If heavy rain pours, they will conduct patrol to points that prone to flood. If they detect inundation, they must find out the cause and handle it thus the same incident can be avoided in future.

Heavy Rain to Fall Until April 2017

"Lately, rain intensity is high. Surely it should be anticipated, especially inundation or flood," he uttered.

He continued that the 295 officers that will be alerted are from Water Management Sub-dept and its ranks in 10 sub-districts as well as freelancer.

In East Jakarta, there are currently 12 pump houses and 20 sluice gates. Generally, its condition is still good, except gate in Pulogadung and will be repaired by Jakarta Water Management Dept.
